If you really want to know everything about the TESO and see a real wheelhouse from the inside, then you have to go to Flora. In this museum, they tell you the story of the TESO, ‘Texels Eigen Stoomboot Onderneming’. That, and many even stranger stories, because here you’ll find the result of years of beachcombing gathered together. The beachcombers will gladly tell you themselves how they acquired all of that.
If you come to Texel to capture the salty flavors and enjoy the island’s gastronomy, you cannot miss a visit to Restaurant Opduin. Chef Aart Wijker works (almost) exclusively with products from the Wadden Sea area and – when necessary – with other local products. Aart’s specialty is the Fruits de Mer platter with clams, mussels, prawns, and oysters. Naturally, Texel lamb is also featured on the menu, and there is ample choice for vegetarians and vegans.
Also a must-visit: the dune terrace where you can enjoy the surroundings protected among the marram grass from 11:00 AM daily. In less pleasant weather, the conservatory – with a luxurious Hamptons living room atmosphere – is a great spot to literally flop down on one of the couches with a tasty snack and drink.
Fancy enjoying some time together? Take your time at Restaurant ‘Bij Kogerstaete’. Relish a rich cheese or meat fondue, taste the famous Texel lamb – and all the other unique local products that our island has to offer. The chef at this restaurant draws inspiration from the nature around De Koog. Time is the special ingredient: a stew that has simmered for hours, oh so tender… Naturally, they also serve the matching wine with these delicious dishes. This way, all the flavors are enhanced even more. For a shared enjoyment, there’s all the time in the world at ‘Bij Kogerstaete’.
Cycling is beautiful, especially on Texel. But at some point, you want something different. And then suddenly you see them turning the corner: the Texel TukTuks! They whiz around the corners, they take you everywhere but above all, they offer a truly unique experience. A day trip around Texel in a TukTuk from TukTuk Express, you have to experience that. Once, maybe even again – there are people who go out every year with these characteristic carts. With a TukTuk, you experience the island in its unique way!
With the arrival of Casa di Gio’s, a touch of Italian flair was brought to De Cocksdorp. In the restaurant, as they say themselves, you are treated to Italian food, truly Italian, of course. Anti pasti, pasta, pizza, and dolci. The dishes are made in a traditional manner, using fresh products from two worlds. In the kitchen, ingredients are primarily sourced from various regions in Italy. However, you will also be surprised by dishes incorporating top Texel products. Bello bello!
The accessible nature of the place makes it the spot for both young and old to enjoy the tasty cuisine after an outing. In short: for an Italian experience on Texel, Casa di Gio’s is where you can indulge your gourmet heart.

Texel is richer by a golden win with the arrival of Texels Goud. Located in the heart of Den Burg, on the cozy and—weather permitting—sunny square ‘De Groeneplaats’. It is a place where you can delightfully spend the entire day.
It is the perfect spot to relax with a glass of wine or sparkling wine from the Salentein winery, a local beer, and homemade sushi. These ingredients make the place unique. Nowhere else on the island is there such a large selection of sushi as here. Don’t forget to also order the other snacks from the menu to experience the true feeling of shared dining.
We all know Texels Skuumkoppe, but when you’re on Texel, you can also get to know the other beers from the Texelse Brouwerij. Located in the middle of Texel, between Den Burg and Oudeschild, you’ll find the brewery. There you can take a tour, literally – but also figuratively in the cozy tasting room. Cheers!
